Wer als Klassik-Künstler die magische Schallmauer von über 500.000 YouTube-Views durchbricht, heißt normalerweise Anna Netrebko, Rolando Villazon oder Valentina Lisitsa. Das war einmal: mit seinem nicht ganz so alltäglichen Konzept-Musikvideo „August sings Carmen, Habanera“ begibt sich der schweizerische lyrische Tenor August Schram als zunächst verklemmter Videoblogger frei nach Georges Bizet und dem Motto „Die Liebe ist ein wilder Vogel“ („L’amour est un oiseau rebelle“) auf eine ziemlich schräge, schrille und psychodelisch-trashige Sado-Maso-Liebesreise und interpretiert ganz nebenbei in einem einmaligen Mix aus Instrumental und Discobeats die „Habanera“-Arie aus Carmen in einer Klassik-Crossover-Version neu … www.metube.at

CLUB BAROQUE feiert am 19. April in Salzburg Premiere

Barocke Tonkunst trifft auf Electronic Sound Kultur
Beim neuen CLUB BAROQUE – am 19. April erstmals in Salzburg – verbünden sich die Salzburger Hofmusik, ein renommiertes Ensemble für Alte Musik um den Tastenkünstler Wolfgang Brunner, mit dem Wiener Elektronik-Musiker Rupert Huber (TOSCA, L/O/N/G, u.a.), um die Musik des 17. & 18. Jahrhunderts in die Zukunft zu katapultieren. Austria Sounds Great! auf dem Reeperbahnfestival ’12

“Die Popkomm war gestern – es lebe das Reeperbahnfestival!”, so die einhellige Meinung der Organisatoren der österreichischen Auftritts beim 2012er Reeperbahnfestival in Hamburg. „Das Konzept des Reeperbahnfestivals ist unschlagbar: 200 Meter Messemeile für B2B- und musikinteressiertes Publikum. Die österreichischen Bands spielten vor vollen Häusern.” missionCulture half vor Ort mit lokaler Veranstaltungskoordination im Auftrag von “austrian music export”.

Gefördert wurde der Auftritt der österreichischen Musikindustrie im Rahmen der Berlin Music Week & Reeperbahn Festival 2012 von AKM/GFÖM, IFPI/LSG, Fachverband der Film- und Musikindustrie und AWO go international. Classical:NEXT moves to Vienna for 2013

The second edition of Classical:NEXT will take place from 29 May – 1 June 2013 in Vienna, Austria. After a successful premiere this spring, the new professional forum for classical music is set to become the annual meeting point for the classical music scene.

The new venue for the Classical:NEXT exhibition and conference spaces will be the MAK, the Austrian Museum of Applied Arts/Contemporary Art, in Vienna. The Showcase concerts will be held at nearby theatres.

Berlin based company piranha womex continues to produce the event. New hosts and local partners are Mario Rossori, general manager of Preiser Records and Rossori Music & Event, co-founder of the AMADEUS Austrian Music Awards and head of the Austrian umbrella stand at MIDEM and Popkomm; Heinrich Schläfer, sound engineer and organizer of the Austrian stands at WOMEX and jazzahead! and Frank Stahmer (missionCulture), who among others organized the European Composers Congress and the ARTMUSFAIR.

Musikfest der Vielfalt 2012 awarded

It’s official: Diversity in music is not only an exclusive experience for the supporters of a fresh, open-minded and sophisticated music taste, but it is also a highly creative and attractive means for leasure time entertainment. In that sense, the Austrian-wide Musikfest der Vielfalt (Music Festival of Diversity) and its 2012 edition have been awward as excellent by the WKO - Vienna Chambers of Commerce and their “Special Interest Group for Leisure and Sports Companies” (Fachverband Sport- und Freizeitbetriebe. missonCulture’s Frank Stahmer is co-coordinator of this event which is initiated by the Austrian Music Council. www.musikfestdervielfalt.at

Accademia di Canto – Belcanto Summer Academy in Austria

Under  the motto “Learn to Sing the Original Italian Belcanto”, the first Belcanto summer academy in Austria, the Accademia di Canto is launched from 10-16 September this year in Mödling (in the living house of composer Arnold Schönberg), nearby to Vienna. The academy is open to young professional and talented, advanced student singers until 35 years of age. Among the teachers is M° Fiorenza Cossotto, considered by many to be one of the greatest mezzo-sopranos of the 20th century. The Accademia di Canto is initiated and organized by “Art in Action”, Vienna, an association for cultural activities.

Musikfest der Vielfalt 2012 – österreichweit

“12 Tage Musikfest für 12 Monate kulturelle Vielfalt in Österreich“, so lautet seit 2010 alljährlich das Motto des Musikfestes der Vielfalt, das jeden Frühsommer die gesamte Musikszene Österreichs einlädt, sich mit ihren Veranstaltungen an der musikalischen Demonstration der Vielseitigkeit unseres Musiklandes zu beteiligen.

Neben einem in diesem Jahr erstmals ausgerufenen, bundesweiten Schulmusikwettbewerb gehören auch Shopping-Center Konzerte im “Stadion Center Wien” am 06. Juni und im “City Center Amstetten” am 08. Juni in Partnerschaft mit dem Wiener Jeunesse Orchester und dessen Kammerensembles sowie Konzert in Bankfilialen (in Kooperation mit der Raiffeisen in Wien) am 29., 30. Mai & 05. Juni zu den neuen Highlights des Musikfest der Vielfalt. Mehr als 100 Veranstaltungen finden im Rahmen des Festivals vom 26. Mai bis 07. Juni statt.

missionCulture at Classical:NEXT

Frank Stahmer of missionCulture is in Munich at the Gasteig culture centre to attend the first edition of Classical:NEXT, the new international professionals forum for classical music. From 30 May until 2 June international professionals from all sectors of the classical music scene will gather in Munich for the first edition of this new annual event – festivals, venues, publishers, labels, music educators, institutions, media, producers and, of course, classical music artists. The aim is to create cross-sector networks and to find new solutions for the future of classical music.

On 31st May conference session “Film Music as Ear-Opener to Contemporary Music”, exploring the variety of modern music genres in the context of film, which has been suggested and coordinated by missionCulture’s Frank Stahmer is held between 15.00-15.45 in the “BlackBox” at Gasteig.

Salzburger Hofmusik re-freshed

The Salzburg-based ensemble for early music and music on authentic instruments “Salzburger Hofmusik” received a new Website made by missionCulture. The Hofmusik was founded by Wolfgang Brunner and forms an ensemble in variants from trio to orchestra. The programmes focus on the Salzburgian court music traditions leading to Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and his contemporaries. The musicians are playing mainly, but not exclusively on contemporary instruments. The Salzburger Hofmusik was invited to festivals from Brugge to Istanbul, more than 50 CD’s have been recorded.

Tour Managemet for Austrian Night @ MIDEM, Cannes 2012

Under the title “Austrian Music Box – a Journey through Austria from Classical to Pop!” this year’s AustrianNight@MIDEM followed into the footsteps of the 2009 edition when well-received artists like Valerie, Tanz Baby! and Parov Stellar presented the first “Austrian Music Box“, a thoroughly selected compilation of what Austrian music sounds like in the 21st century. Now as the second volume of the Music Box is out (naturally in time for the MIDEM), Austrian music continued its journey across the genres of music – from Classical to Pop! This time featuring !Dela Dap, Herr Tischbein, Mika Vember and the Danubia Saxophone Quartet.

MissionCulture supported the tour to France on behalf of Rossori Music&Event, the main organiser of the Austrian representation in Cannes at the MIDEM.

The unforgettable and well-crowded concert took place in the Sparkling Club in Cannes on 28 January 2012 in the frame of the newly introduced “midem-off” festival.
